What Omni system do I have and how can I communicate with it?

I have a 12 year old HAI system with a number 10A00-7 on the label.  It is only used for security, not lights or anything else.  Control panel is Aegis.

First, which model is this?  Omnipro II?  How can I tell?

Is there any way to communicate/control this unit thru iRule or ISY?  Or some other app?

I would like to be able to at least see what is going on with the system when I am not at home.  We do not  have a monitoring company.

The Aegis is an HAI board in disguise.  Does it have a number after it like 1500 or 2000?

You can upgrade many of these with a chip swap to become a "real" HAI panel, which you can then use with iRule.

Well, if it truly is an OmniPro, then you have the one board that's no longer supported by HAI for new software and what not.  The latest firmware you can get is 1.9, and you do that by changing out an EEPROM chip (maybe 2) on the board.  They are in sockets so it's not hard.

However, with only 1.9 firmware I don't think you will be able to use any of the apps the way you want.  You may want to investigate upgrading to an OmniPro II.

The major model number matches... is there a way you can take a picture of the board and post it here?  That will remove all doubt.

Yeah that's an older OmniPro for sure.

You won't get much network based control since it doesn't have a network interface.  You could kludge together some serial control using a Global Cache iTach and iRule, but it would be limited one way control at best, and involve a lot of programming.  The last software update would get you to version 1.9, that chip in the middle of the board that says HAI should say what version you have.  Depending on what level you have now you may want to upgrade, there were some fire safety changes made in version 1.7, for example.

Your best bet really is to replace it with an OmniPro II.  You can keep all of the existing configurations, and I would have to double check but I think your 2-way voice module on the right, and that ALC interface on top of the board can move over to the new controller as well.  If you see any HAI model numbers in that ##A###-# format on those boards post them here and we can look it up.

You would gain 5 serial interface ports and a network interface, and current compatibility with Z-Wave, Zigbee, UPB, RadioRA, Centralite, pretty much any lighting control system, as well as whole home audio, different types of thermostats and HVAC systems, door locks, etc.

Do you know the master code for the system, sometimes referred to as the installer code?

Early Omni board that was prioritized for Ages with ALC serial lighting daughter board and a HAI voice board, in its day it was the best that you could get, however today it's a museum piece.

All existing wiring "should" work with any of the new Omni boards.

If your ALC (QnQ) lighting still works there is a good chance it will work with the new boards, they still have the ALC integration w/some modification. I still have some components in stock.

The voice board will not work. I do not believe the key-pads will work but I may be wrong on that.

It does not have internet capability.

Thanks guys.  No I do not have the master code.  The installer (12 years ago) lost his hard drive and it is gone.  That is one reason I took out the old Crestron system and went with the iRule/ISY/Insteon RF setup.  It controls lights/tstats and the stereo (whole house and theatre room) and I am doing most of the installation and programing.

The only thing the HAI does now is security.  I am pretty sure that it would be pretty expensive to upgrade to the new HAI and all I would be using it for is security and internet/remote access so probably not the way to go for me?  With all the wires in the same place it would be somewhat easy to get someone to come in (or do it myself) and install a compatible security panel.

Thanks for the input!

Do you no longer have the ALC lighting?  What's with all of the relay modules in there (I'm guessing that's what they are).

Unfortunately if you don't have the master code you are up the creek for extracting the programming first.

If all you need is security, you can get a GE or DSC panel for far cheaper than a whole OmniPro II.  But the flexibility and support by iRule for the Omni panel might play into your decision making.

No there were only 2 light controls controlled by the omni and they are sitting in my basement.  No one wants them!

Do not know what the relays are for other than possibly running the tv screen and projector lift.  However I think I have the relays in a separate box.  Two boxes about 1" by 3" x 4" with 110 and small wires going in and out to the screen.
