What size lens for a door camera?

I am going to be installing a door camera shortly. The door can not accomodate a peephole camera due to its construction. The camera will be placed (already wired) about 3 feet above head level. I was thinking about a cheaper IR bullet but a dome would also work. Any suggestions as to what size lens would be good for this application?
By the way, I already have a surveillance camera pointing at the same door from behind (about 15 feet behind and above) that does a good job showing the "big picture" but the wife wants something that will display a decent (and bigger) head shot.
Thanks guys.

Here's a popular chart that shows the difference between "typical" lenses. Keep in mind that 3 feet above the door is going to provide you with a great way to spot balding but won't be so good for ID'ing faces.
