Why the Elk RJSET screw connectors?

Finally getting around to running the RJ31 line to the Elk. Noticed that the Elk RJSET has screw-on endpoints at the end where it's supposed to get put into the alarm panel.

thing is, the alarm panel just has 4 regular wire terminal inputs. So, am I missing something? Why would there be screw-on endpoints on the RJSET when it's getting plugged into regular wire terminals?

Here's the pics:

I sure hope there's not a good reason because I just snipped the connectors off of mine yesterday.

ok, thanks. Just wanted to make sure I didn't pull another shortsighted move.
