Will the ipad be the ultimate-home-automation-controller?

$500 for a wall mount??? That's insane, the whole dang iPad is only $500.
Wouldn't even consider it. Leaves a lot of room for other companies to market mounts. I'm sure we'll see the available products grow, at much lower prices.

This is another option on the market. www.gravityswitch.com/ibracket/

That's closer to a good price, but still too high. The ipad's too popular not to have many products coming out. I'm sure we'll see prices drop for the wallmounts.

Thanks,
Kevin

Someone will make something simple. For now I can make something out of wood if we had to. The quick detach part is hard though, I need a nice looking wall mount that you can detach the ipad from and carry with you and drop it back in to charge. Should be about $150 once apple comes out with it.

iPad running touchOSC software : http://hexler.net/
WIFI -> IR : RedEye
OSC to HTTP converter : custom software running on Mac OS 10.6

How it works:

- iPad is running touchOSC with a custom designed template using their easy to use template design software.
- touchOSC sends OSC messages to listener program running on a PC er... Mac (though the listening program is Java and is cross platform).
- OSC listener program turns OSC message into HTTP messages and sends these to RedEye Wifi IR device

The custom OSC->HTTP program supports loading of the RedEye command database directly from the RedEye and loading of the touchOSC controls from the touchOSC template file - then you just drag and drop the RedEye commands to the touchOSC message... simple

Sorry about that - I didn't even realize it was private... It's now public. I am on vacation this week and will be working on this some more this week...
