Wireless/IP control for Carrier Comfort II zone system?

Hi folks,

New to the forum here, but lurking for a while.

As the last of my home theater equipment finally got upgraded to IP control I started to stick my toe back into the world of HA. Since the home theater makes up a zone in a 4 zoned Carrier Comfort II system I bump into this beast again.

Does anyone have ideas, suggestions, solutions for how to gateway into the CZII controller? I know the control board has a RS-485 port. Some googling around has lead me to mostly dead ends. Apparently Crestron had a $1000 interface for it at one point (can't afford Crestron so won't go there). There was something called a CCNWeb box, but I can't find one for sale anywhere.

I would really like to automate and remote control this working multi-zone system. Replacing it short of a catastrophic failure is just a waste of money.

Ideas?

Thank!

I am looking for the same thing.  Would we be able to replace the comfort zone II thermostat with another communicating thermostat like the aprilare 8800?  I have an ELK M1G and would desperately like to be able to control my HVAC when we are on vacation or away for an extended period.

Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

A Loxone system could help you out.  It has a RS485 extension that can be attached to it so you could talk to the HVAC.  You could also just use its relays to control the unit.  It has an app and you can add almost anything to your system.  You can also add logic so you can tie in everything when you put the system in vacation mode.  Mine goes into Frost protection for the HVAC, does a presence simulation with the lighting and turns on the alarm.  I can watch and talk through my Grandstream IP cameras through the app.  I can use the phone or the wall switch on the way out.  Cool stuff didn't know I could do so much

I am an enthusiast.  I love tech.  I don't care what system you use.  I have a combination of systems.  I use a raspberry pi, Belkin wemo light switches, a Loxone miniserver, and Grandstream cameras for their built-in SIP client.  I want to expand my system with door locks with Lockitron whenever it comes out.
