    UPB Repeater Makes Things Worse

I have about 85 UPB switches installed in my house, and have never had great luck with a few of them that are farthest away from the PIM. I have had a HAI UPB phase coupler installed, and get decent signal strength on both phases (45-60 on phase 1, and 6-14 on phase 2). I decided to plop down...

    Elk-624 Heat Question

Update. So, I started connecting from the beginning, to see if I could figure out where the issue is. I connected the 624 to the 1640, and powered it on...worked fine with no heat. I then connected the PD9 (but left the power switch on the PD( to off)...no heat. I then connected the battery...

    Elk-624 Heat Question

So my alarm would not arm today, saying that a zone was violated. After doing some troubleshooting, I figured out that the powered contacts (motions, glass breaks) were only getting 6.5 volts from the Elk-624. The jumper was still set to 12V, and I have not touched my system for months. I...

    Elk Alarm Error

The door sensors are flush mounted GRI megnetic sensors, so it isn't likely that they got stuck as a ball sensor would. It is more likely that Panamanian's explanation is what happened; they left the door open past the exit dealy, it went into entry delay, then they closed the door and the...

    Elk Alarm Error

My parents set the alarm off today, after which I was promptly notified by NextAlarm, and received my E-mail on my phone. I called my dad, who had just dropped my kids off at school, so he went back to the house. He checked the door that he went out (Laundry Door), and it was locked. I looked...

Mine stops working every few months or so, and I just reboot the XEP. That always does the trick for me.

    iPad Wall Mount Options

Updated first post with another option, and some additional info. Some of the mounts that were vaporware are now available for purchase. So, I guess a lot of people are searching for an "iPad Wall Mount". Performing that search on Google shows this thread as the #3 link on the first page. :)

Please help a newbie w/ ipad/iphone home automation

+1 for CQC. I took all of my touchscreen templates, and started converting them to the ipad. So far, it has been very easy, but I have more work to do on it still. Follow the link to see some screenshots of the templates: http://www.charmedquark.com/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=9315

    Water shut off valve

This is how my valve operates, as well as the Elk valve. When it is open or closed, there is no current draw. It only draws current when the motor is opening or closing the valve. I can't imagine wanting a valve that works any other way.

    Water shut off valve

Typically, you would not be reducing down directly from your water main supply. In most installations, you are coming off of your supply with the same size pipe as your supply. Then, as lines branch off throughout the house, they are reduced to smaller sizes. This allows the supply the...

How do you distribute a HTPC around the house?

I use Sage TV and love it! I have 1 central Sage TV server, and 5 HD extenders. The extenders are at each TV, and are about the size of a hardback book. Anyone can turn on any tv, and watch what they like, independent of the other TVs. I have all of my movies ripped to the Sage server, and...

    iPad Wall Mount Options

I updated the first post, and split the list between charging and non-charging mounts. I have to say that I am most impressed by the iPort so far. Here is a link to the manual http://www.iportmusic.com/cms_documents/cmiw2000manual.pdf. It used an in-wall mount, and does not require power in...

    Garage door open

FWIW, I would not have it close automatically for safety reasons. I used to have mine do that, until I left the hatch open on my SUV one evening. Now I have a nice scratch on it. <_< I ended up having my system notify me via voice if the garage door is open after 8PM. I also get an E-mail...
