Anyone know any options for a 12V doorbell. I routed my doorbell to my hai and am using the audio out but it is to slow by the time the speakers react. Sometimes it is 30 seconds after the door bell is pressed the annoucnment actually plays. I think this is a combo of thisgs causingthis but mostly the voice board onthe HAI.

So what I woudl like to do is bypass it all together and just run the switch to sometihng that would give me a nice sounding audio doorbell out. I am up for anything can I input this to a PC and have CQC do ir or homeseer? is there a way to add triggers to a pc?

I use a DS10A (X10 door and window sensor) attached to the bottom of my door bell plunger. When the door bell rings it activates the DS10A and HomeSeer plays a random sound over my whole house audio system. It also emails me if the house is unoccupied.

You need something like a W800 receiver from WGL Designs or an RFXCom to detect the DS10a signal. I actually use this same method (I believe this was HiTech's idea over on the HomeSeer forums) and it works great. Post #20 shows HiTech's reply and Rupp posted pictures of his implementation on post #33 of that thread.

I made an antenna for my W800 and placed it in the attic for extended receiving range.

A lot of us use DS10a's for many HA monitoring tasks here.

this idea is I don't want a door bell I want my HA system to anounce all over the house when someone rings the bell. My house is to big for a single bel that is the issue.

All you need is a contact closure button on the door and then a way to get this information into your HA system.
