Advise on outdoor camera purchase

I would consider using (generous amount) of roofing cement/tar instead.
Not sure about that.  Use the wrong product and you risk rain causing streaks down the shingles.

Can you show us a picture or drawing relating to what you are looking at relating to mounting the camera?

A quickie stick drawing would suffice.

Ahh, OK.

Here in the midwest the home is about 50% brick.  All external whatever is using single gang electrical boxes and plastic and metal outdoor style boxes/covers.

In FL going to all plastic as the outdoor lamps (again) and covers are deteriorating from the salt air.  The outdoor security lighting plastic round outdoor covers have fallen apart after touching or adjusting them.

About 5-6 years ago I installed two similiar to what you have posted in a link above - maybe a bit smaller.  Outdoor round and metal with a metal cover.  The metal is not rusting.  Prior to that I used all plastic which did also hold up fine.  These are for cameras.  Sun most of the day, rain, sprinkler, snow et all and they have done well.
