Anything out there to control my existing equipment?

Hi all, totally new here, but playing around with this new hobby and loving it.

I installed my home security system myself, and here is what I have. .

Main alarm panel:

Door/window sensors:

Motion Detectors

Is there any software/interface available to read these signals that I can use to know when there is motion in my house, if a door/window has been opened, what room the motion is in, etc?

Thanks in advance.

This unit will phone you if it is triggered by the looks of it - is that what you want?

If you want to have a PC monitor it then you may need to create a phone line connection to it (using a modem?) and get the data out that way. It looks like it supports central monitoring, but until you tesst it you wont know what data its spitting out.

One thing to look for in the future is a serial port or ethernet interface, that will then lend itself to having an interface more suitable to a PC being able to monitor and thus more capabilities for a HA scenario.

I am looking for a device that will interpret the signals from the door/window sensors and interface that with homeseer or some other computer program. Basically taking the place of my alarm keypad

Does this system support X10 by any chance? If it doesn't "do" x10 or have an external interface then it will be really hard to interface with HomeSeer or any automation software. You should ask on the HomeSeer message board to see if any one is using one of these systems with HS.

I would not use an unknown brand system
when it comes to security don't compromise
buy a reputable brand
ADEMCO, DSC, ELK M1 GOLD, HAI, GE SECURITY
ETC

and one more thing never buy an alarm system that has the main control unit and keypad in the the enclosure.

What system do companies like ADT etc use?

And I think you guys are missing my question. I am wondering if I get rid of my kepad/main enclosure would it be possible to use these wireless motion detectors/door/window sensors with a different system? Or what I can do to find out.

I agree with what others have said. Sorry, but you've got a low end system.

I doubt it is possible (at least not easily) to use the sensors with another panel. As others have said it might be possible to get status via X10 or perhaps the phone line but I didn't see any mention of X10 (although I didn't spend much time looking) and the phone line would not be easy either. The most straight forward way is to get a panel with a serial port or some other link. Before buying the panel you need to think about what software on the PC it will communicate with and make sure they will work together or be prepared to write some software for the job.

Just my opinion... YMMV.

I just looked at the site listed on their window stickers:

www.asosecurity.com

It doesn't exist. (Well, technically, it does but it isn't a monitoring company.) Want to buy the domain name? :)

You can easily get monitoring for the same price from somewhere that is UL listed for brands that were recommended.

The short answer, replace the panel with a elk or HAI. Your pannel has very limited capibility. Unless it can interface with homeseer, you need to call homeseer or check there site.

I suspect that the wired sensors would work with an ELK M1 or HAI system.

Because the current system is a combined panel / keyboard, I assume all of your wires are to that location.

You could use an expansion module (hidden) to that location and run one RS485 line to the new panel's location. The quantity of expansion modules is dependent on how many zones you have run there (typically 8 or 16 per module).

Most of the cost of the current system is your labor in running all the wires. If you find the sensors are not compatible (my guess unlikely), replace them and sell your old system as a complete system where you can get a few bucks out of it. You won't be able to sell just the control unit likely.

If you are using RF sensors, less likely they will be compatible. Hard wired should be fine.

I am afraid that other than the wired normally closed sensor inputs there will not be any equipment that can interface to the radio transmitters.

The radio transmitters have an antenna that can be extended from the picture which means the unit was made in China. The ad shows a policeman wearing a European hat.

The unit should work OK for security, but probably not automation.
