Apologies and another question

Update:
 
The system has run perfectly and with zero errors on the data bus for a few days now. This is the complete system minus the wireless adapter in the house and the M1OVR that I used to control the three overhead doors in the garage. I've been here before but I am going to go forward much more carefully this time.
 
I  installed the wireless adapter at noon today but before doing so I replaced the cat5e and it's rj-45 terminator plug. The system now has 35 errors which amounts to a rate of about 7/hour. The wireless adapter is mounted on the wall just above the control making this the shortest cable in the system at 4' long.
 
There are no random chimes yet. There are also no zones enabled on the wireless adapter yet. I'm going to let it run overnight and if it behaves well i will enable it's four zones and see how that goes.
 
I hope that I'm not abusing the forum with so many of my posts but a few here seem interested and the help I've gotten here has been invaluable. I also think better when I write it down, it it slows things down a bit.

No these data bus errors are reported on the keypad. Menu item 8.6.1

I understand these errors to be data retransmissions on the rs-485. I know that it is not a critical number of retransmissions but it may be related to the unexplainable behavior I've been experiencing.

Just checked mine A1 shows 00 errors, A2 shows 10 errors. This is over a LONG period of time.

My errors are on T2A2 but I do not understand what the T or the A mean. I read that the A is Area and that the T is type of adapter but if wasn't from a good source so I'm not convinced. Can you explain this to me?

Can't speak to that, but I can tell you that I don't have an Area 2 defined on my system.

Thanks that makes sense. My T2A2 corresponds with the input device at address 2 which is my wireless adapter.

Now I would like to know what "T2AB" means. I was getting this error code when I had the system set up as one area. I do believe that it was the same wireless adapter causing the errors but why was it T2AB when one area as opposed to T2A2 with two areas?

After going through all of the troubleshooting documented in the six pages of this message thread and in other message threads on this forum I decided that the lady in the box was possessed and we had a very nice little exorcism.
 
Well not really but I have finally gotten the system to behave. I have learned that everything behaves normally when I remove the M1XRFTW wireless system entirely. I ran the system for three days with zero data bus errors, no errors reported in the system log and no ill behavior.
 
Yesterday I re-enrolled the M1XRFTW device but did not enable any zones and the system immediately started accumulating errors on the data bus at the rate of about 10/hour. This in itself is not a problem but it does bother me as the cable is only 4' long. Then this morning I enabled three wireless door switches and teh system went back to it's evil ways. Not only did it start voicing zone violations again for no reason but the ethernet adapter started reporting troubles in the system log.
 
About two hours ago I disconnected the wireless device and the everything is normal again. Now I'm sitting on a few hundred dollars worth of wireless equipment that I can't seem to make use of. I don't think that Elk will refund the stuff because I didn't buy from an authorized dealer but maybe the dealer will take it back.

Yes, I don't know if you are familiar with the DBH but that is a very nice feature of it. You can add and remove devices from the data bus with proper termination very easily by just moving the terminating rj-45 plug on the board.

The system is still running perfectly with the wireless disconnected. Good news from Elk today, they have received my wireless kit, and while it has passed some preliminary tests they are going to connect it to a control and run it to see what they can learn. In the meantime they are going to send me a replacement unit.
 
Elk's support is about as good as it gets. I've had great communications with a knowledgeable support tech and they are supporting the hardware. It's how a company should treat their customers.
