Automation Studio Simulator

Wouln't it be cool if you were able to open (and keep open) the simulator independently from Automation Studio on your desktop?
I have found myself sitting in my home office opening AS just to access the simulator to send commands.
I think this would be a good add on for future releases. Kind of puts an extra control interface when using a home pc.

Also, is there or will there be a capability to send voice messages from the OPII to a 5.7e?

D14,

Automation Studio's simulator (as it is now) is meant strictly for debugging and testing purposes. You should take a look at Snap-Link, it is designed to run on a PC for extended periods.

The 5.7e can play .wav files, so you could trigger a wav file to play off of a button press in the Omni... So when you want to play a certain sound, you run the "Play Home Sound" button.

Aaron, I don't have snaplink but I do run WLII which does the job but as far as the better interface, you can't beat your custom designed Automation Studio screen. Lets face it, WLII needs an update bad. Anytime I am sitting by a computer, if given the choice, I would use the simulator (if it was available) over WLII anyday. As a matter of fact, I usually keep Automation Studio open just so I can have quick access to the simulator to send commands. All I am saying is that it would be nice to be able to click the taskbar in my desktop or laptop (from inside the house of course) and open (call it what you want) what we now know as the simulator. I mean, who wants to scroll down the whole list of light in your house when you can just click on the rooms page and get to the light much faster?
After using Automation Studio going back to use WBII on the PC is like dropping Windows 7 and going back to DOS.
This is just my opinion. Call it customer feedback if you want.
I love you all's products and I am a loyal HAI customer.
Thanks.

D14,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you like Automation Studio (it's my baby). The simulator doesn't do something that you would probably want for you needs (auto reconnect, ability to run seperately from AS, etc). I think I understand what you want, and it is something we have considered, so I'll pass it along!

Thanks,

Aaron
