Well, I said I'd cry if it froze again.....
Came home, and noticed that the garage lights didn't come on when the door opened....an ominous sign. Sure enough, it's froze up.
So that lasted like 2 days from the full reinstall. And all I put on there was CQC, the windows updates, the appropriate drivers and such. That was all.
Now, I *did* notice in the event viewer log that "nmserial" was giving notifications that something was wrong. I did a search for nmserial, and found a post about someone having the same issue, and it appears to be linked to this syba serial/PCI card with the moschip on it. It seems highly suspect that the card is the problem (as I've had it in the PC before and no issues, just maybe not with WHS), but I'm scratching at straws here.
I'd be the first to jump up and down for a new motherboard....but until I can definitely say that the motherboard is the problem, then I don't know that I'd be any better off.
I guess we're really down to it just being the hardware then, huh? I mean, this was a completely clean install.
So that would leave either the hard drives, the video card, the PCI/serial board, or the motherboard. I can remove the PCI serial board and move everything to the quatechs, for the time being. And I guess I need to run that checkdisk thing on the drives and see if anything comes up (though WHS says they're all in good health...I dunno what WHS checks to make that determination).
