Can one HAI switch control another using UPB links?

I have a Omni II and a bunch of switches. I am experimenting with Upstart software. I would like to make a switch for one light turn on another light when double tapped. I was going to do that by setting up a link with the Upstart software.
When I went to do it, I see that all the HAI switches already have a "transmit component" set up for both tap and double tap. It is set to "status button". In the description, it says this is used to transmit light levels. My question is can I change that transmit component to do something else like activate another link? Or, will that screw up something else?

You sure can. I do exactly the same thing. I put a flood light in the yard but I couldn't get the wire (didn't want to more so) to the back door so I used the existing deck light switch, a doouble tap up turns both the deck and rear flood on, double tap down turns both off.

Great. Do you have any issue with the system knowing if either light is on? Ie. does the system know that your deck and rear flood is on when you do that?

On the Rocker tab, there's a check box to report status after the rocker is used; that'll help with the local load. As for the remote load, if you're using HLC there should be a way; otherwise just as normal UPB it won't know the status; but hopefully an HAI expert can chime in.
