Just checked out some updates on Custom CTRL project (see Cocoon Tech article on 16 March). Go to the update page and check out #2. Some unique capability they are proposing with the smart phone.

All of that is real. Handling the "cast" motion is the only part that isn't great - the compass goes wild. A combination of adding time for it to settle down and averaging the readings seems to give ok results.
We'll keep working on that stuff.
