Elk and Kwikset

It's been over a year since this thread has been touched... I know there has been progress with the Kwikset locks and a number of controllers, certainly including ELK.

I will be installing my Elk panel soon, and wanted to get some more detailed information regarding the integration between the Kwikset (Z-Wave model) and Elk. Obviously the VRCOP-1LW (+3 version) and the M1XSLZW are required to control the lock. However, the Kwikset manual states the following, "once the lock has been included into the (HAN) system, you can program up to 30 codes." Is this the case when integrated with the ELK?

I haven't heard/read any discussions of this at all and I would really like to have the ability to program more than 2 user codes.

If what you are referring to is [Kwiset docs], “We suggest you add and change codes from the system controller.” Then Leviton RF Installer Toolkit does not have a configuration screen to add/delete/change user identifiers. I suspect you could get the functionality by using Home Connect software.

The M1XSLZW does not support the user identifier feature on the Kwikset locks. M1SXLZW only sends message texts with the lock number.

I agree not support the user identification feature is a sub-optimal. It would have been nice to use the door lock as arming station. This would have required Elk to make locks a first class ElkRP citizen (a security object/class with properties).

Bullet #3, under step #4, is what I was referring to (http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/content/BDHHI/homeconnect), but yeah, I think this is to be done via software. Is there ANY software doing this?

I don't know if I would go so far as to want to disarm the alarm system via entry by a certain user... Personally, I'd prefer they be 2 separate codes for security purposes. That said, if the Elk was able to read in user codes, it would be a convenient way to base other automation features off a specific persons entry.... turning on a certain radio station, a TV to a certain channel, or lights on in rooms that will be entered by said person... but I digress :-/

... after a bit of Googe-ing it looks like Vera is allowing users to manager user codes via their web interface. I need to dig deeper, but has anyone integrated a Vera controller with Elk?

The other question is, why isn't Elk doing this? Ideally, I'd like to have an individual user code for each person who could possibly enter my home; myself, my wife, certain family members, and those who provide services to my home while I am not there... and I don't want them to have to call me, so I can unlock the door remotely once they get there. :(

but has anyone integrated a Vera controller with Elk?

There is a Elk-M1 plug-in but as of now it only supports security features, a new one is suppose to be released soon with output port control. Once that is relase you would be able to write a script in vera for each user code (from the lock) and turn on a output in the M1 and write a script in the M1 with what you want the M1 to do
