Elk M1DBH - What is J10 used for?

I am installing an Elk M1DBH (databus hub). I noticed that it came with a cable that has identical connectors on both ends. The connectors fit the J10 4-pin connector. What is this used for? I promise that I read the instructions several times and I don't see any mention of J10 anywhere.

Also, to connect the M1DBH to the M1G main board, can I use a 24/4 wire or should I go with a heavier gauge (like 18/4)?

Then you didn't see this under specifications ;)
"4 Posisition Quick Connect (J10) - For Use With ELKW018B Cable Assembly"
Though J1 & J2 on the M1G board are for temporary use only.

I swear on a stack of input expansion boards that I'm sitting here with the M1DBH instruction sheet in my hand and the "Specifications" section does not mention anything like that. I don't know where you see that info but thanks. That answered my question on the J10 connector.

If you really want to be critical you really should use twisted pair cable. For a short jumper 22/4 will most likely work but 22/2pr would be best.

It turns out that a buddy had s bit of 18/5 thermostat wire. Since it's a heavier gauge would that be better than a 22/2pr? Do some guys just use a CAT5/6 wire?

How far away is this hub going? You shouldn't need 18ga. Remember the databus calls for CATx (24ga) or 22ga. wire unless you have extreme distances.
