Elk Navigator questions

Elk should consider a "retrofit plate" for the navigator if it is smaller than the M1KP*. A simple plastic piece that is the same color/texture as the navigator bezel that would cover the screw holes and unpainted areas left exposed by the navigator would be great. Maybe have the retrofit plate use the same screw holes as the M1KP* and the navigator attach to the retrofit plate.

Confirmation as I understand it after going through it with ELK last week.

1. The Navigator connects onto the M1 databus (which has been confirmed)- So great for retrofits.
2. They are powered off the bus and draws little more than a conventional M1 keypad. Great
3. They DO HAVE a Input and an Output as per other M1 keypads according to the ELK guy (Kirk) I spoke to. There is definatly a blue and brown wire on them for the I/O.
4. They can be mounted using a single gang wall plate mounted horizontal - Simple installation and there is a backbox for solid walls.

This is just a start. After playing with it at the show and seeing first hand how easy it is to use (or should I say "navigate" through the options - Great name ELK) this is absolutely brillant product. Well done ELK.

There is no way you can compare the Honeywell screen to this keypad. I can see ELK has set the bench mark high again with a new standard of keypads and I can't wait for them to be released as I will be using them with all M1's I install.

To me the big question is still around whether or not I can get an SP12 rigged up behind it so I don't lose that localized sound.

When the come out maybe I'll get one for the MBR and see what I can rig up.

I can confirm that the Navigator input and output do operate.. The GUI is quite nice to use.. It allows programming and most functions of a standard KP2.. There is a prototype surface mount plate being developed.. Most people I have shown are quite impressed..

I can see adding a few of these to my house but still keep regular keypads for the garage and other rooms.

I wonder how controllable the backlighting and sounds are.

Sorry but it's a fail for me.

The surround is too large compared to the screen size, heck it looks like it belongs in a kids toybox.

Maybe I'm getting old but a screen that size is a joke, bump it up to 5" and reduce the surround size, square it up so it looks modern and you may tempt me.
