Elk TS071 vs Ipad

Scott - the iPad will talk on your wireless network and will either run eKeypad to connect directly to the M1, or you'll have some midway service that you'll connect to with the ipad, and that'll connect to the Elk.

Apple clearly is focused on Wifi - as they don't even include LAN ports on their newest computers... so everything iRelated is wifi based.

eKeypad and ElkDroid connect directly to the M1 via IP address; all the other options (CQC, Elve, Homeseer, etc) all have their own connection to the M1 - either IP or serial... and your ipad will connect to that automation server, not the M1 directly.

Work2Play,

Sorry, I am a noob, so I am confused.

I plan on using eKaypad.

Do I need a piece of equipment to get the iPad to talk with the M1 or does the M1 already come out of the box with a wireless system?

Thanks!

You need to add the M1XEP to the Elk M1, this adds a network interface to the Elk.
