Field wire termination

The 50" can is dedicated to all wiring except for video. This includes, but not limited to, security, home automation (dryer, washer), pressure sensors, data, phone, even the central vac outlets are terminated there. Not sure if I understand the question about the brother03.jpg, it's an ADI SECU16 I/O module.

I don't believe those 66 blocks are rated for GigE, and at the same time, cat5e is pretty bulky, so I liked the 110 punchdowns better for that. I also terminate non-data cat5 on those 110 blocks, just to keep things nice.

The unit I posted about has RJ-45 connectors underneath one side, prewired to the block. You just punch down, and you're connected to a patch cable jack. They make them gig-compatible, as well. I'm not recommending the brand, I just couldn't find this type of block (prewired) on other sites.

I was just going by your previous post that mentioned 66 Blocks and Cat-5. I did not see Cat-5E mentioned anywhere.

Sorry about the confusion, I was responding to Sacedog about why I used both the 66 blocks and 110 blocks.

What do you use the Pressure Sensors for? What brand and model did you use?

Not sure what Dan is using them for, but I have seen them used at the tops and bottoms of stairs, next to beds, in-front of doors. Mostly for turning lights on/off but sometimes for security.

I only have 1 zone installed right now, used to detect kitchen occupancy. I use the SureAction Pulsor sensors, they have been around forever, and seem to be the most recommended.
