GRI Garage Door Contact

I am trying to attach a contact sensor to my garage door. I have two parts:
GRI 4402-A w/ 1k resistor
GRI 8297-Kit -- The garage door kit.

I have pulled the parts out of the bag, looked at them, took them to the door.. Attempted to place them at various locations on the track/door. But it seems in every configuration I came up with either the door fins were going to hit part mounted on the track or it was not going to mount correctly. In typical GRI fashion, there are no instructions, has anyone used the GRI garage door contacts? Any advice on how to mount the track part and the magnet?

I mounted my garage door sensor on the top of the door (magnet) and the sensor against the wall. Worked out very well.

Track section of the kit can typically only mount one way on the track, but depends on height where it's put.

The magnet needs to be mounted in proximity, but keep in mind you generally have a very wide gap at about 2" make/break.

Unfortunately, one size does don't fit all when it comes to garage door contacts. It may be the BravesirRobbin had the best solution. Mounting to the top of the garage door is usually an option. Could you take the contact back? If not you could post pictures here so we can be of more assistance.

Thank you,

I was able to find one section of the track where I could place the contact and magnet. I had to drill a hole through the track because none of them lined up. The main problem I had was figuring out the orientation of all the parts. I finally found a picture of it on the GRI website which helped out a lot.
