HAI / NuVo GC integration issues (part II, NV-MP)

This isn't exactly a continuation of the previous discussion around HAI OP II / NuVo GC integration issues so I'm putting this in a new thread.

I've just recently added a NuVo MusicPort to the mix. I've got the MP software (actually Autonomic MCS-EX 2.0) installed on a Vista Home Premium 64-bit machine. I've got some issues getting iTunes integration and multiple outputs working, but that's a separate discussion I'm having w/ NuVo tech support right now.

What I wanted to know from the folks at HAI is: what are the correct serial port settings for the MusicPort machine to be able to route serial communication between the GC and the OPII?

Background: the NuVo GrandConcerto only has a single serial control port. The NuvoNet Adapter (the hw part of the MusicPort solution) needs to connect to that serial port in order to be able to control the NuVo GC system. The MusicPort sw will act as a proxy and relay commands coming in/out using a second serial port.

The NuVo documentation and the tech support guy (Darren) that I spoke with say that the serial port should be set to 57600 N,8,1 w/ no handshake and a serial delay of 0. That combination doesn't seem to be working for me, as any attempts to control the NuVo system through the HAI are failing. I notice the PCA 3 sw only gives me the option to set the baud rate up to 9600 (I have "NuVo GrandConcerto/Essentia" chosen in the "Function" column and it's plugged into Serial 2). This setup was working fine talking to the GC directly (once I upgraded to firmware 3.0A, see the earlier thread).

Is that port on the HAI really running at 9600? Or does selection of the NuVo GC function override the other settings? Do you have any recommendations about the correct settings for the NuVo sw, or are the ones quoted by Darren at NuVo the correct ones?

ok, here's an update: looks like the serial port is indeed running at 57600 when the "NuVo GrandConcerto/Essentia" option is chosen in the PCA sw (at least for port #2, anyway). I tried a number of different settings for serial delay from 0-200ms, and while i got metadata display working on the omnitouch, i couldn't really get the source, zone, or transport controls working reliably.

I have temporarily reverted to direct connection between the HAI and the GC, which results in some loss of function for the Music Port sw (for add'l details, see my other post)

Does anyone at HAI have experience with the NuVo MP, and been able to get this integration to work?

Is HAI also planning to license the Autonomic MCS sw for your upcoming Music Server product? If so, I'm curious to know whether you'll have a more robust integration. That would likely be enough for me to toss this product and wait for that..

HAI does not have any direct experience with the NuVo MusicPort. From your description, it sounds like the MusicPort may not be relaying the commands/responses properly between the HAI controller and the NuVo system. If the HAI system correctly controls the NuVo system directly, then the only solution would be for NuVo and/or Autonomic to determine what the issue is.

I cannot discuss specific details on the HAI Music Gateway at this time. I believe that when it is released you'll find the integration to be robust.

Thanks Neurorad. I've seen the paper (this is scenario 1 in the paper), it didn't really help with my problems. I'll probably put some more time into this over the weekend, using the latest version of the MCS sw I downloaded from the autonomic web site. I'm hoping I can get it to work w/ the new version and the latest HAI firmware.

I bought the Nuvo GC with MP a few weeks ago.
