Help understanding ALC and Units in HAI Omni pro II

So I thought I had lighting all figured out...until I went to setup some new switches on branch 2 of my 4 branch ALC interface. I've installed two new switches, set them to address #2 and #3 on branch 2. However, as you will see in the attached image it's confusing to try and figure out Units in PC Access.

the Annotation states A1/BR1-1, A2/BR1-2, A3/BR1-3 and so on up to 16. Then it switches to B1/BR1-17, B2/BR1-18 up to 31. So I would assume this is all branch 1. However, there is no branch 2, 3 or 4. It then jumps to RM-1, flags etc.

Can someone help me understand the naming convention here so I can find branches 2, 3 and 4? I could send a command to every single one and see which switch responds, but that may take awhile....

thanks

ALC branches can have up to 31 devices in them and HAI goes in blcoks of 16 (or 8). Branch 2 would start at unit number 33, branch 3 would start at unit number 65 and so on.

Thanks Barry. So are you saying the HAI annotations are to be ignored? That Unit 33, called RM5, is actually Branch #, switch address 2?

The issue is that House Code 2, (units 33-48) is set to HLC, so the annotations are appropriate for HLC units. If you are not using this for HLC, but in fact are using these units for ALC, then change the House Code Format to Standard or Extended and the annotation will be shown for X-10/ALC.

It is important to tell the controller what type of units it is talking to. This affects not only the annotations, but what commands and functions are available for automation and in general the way the controller interacts with the units. Incorrect configuration will result in incorrect operation.

I hope this helps.

Thanks that did help! All Branches now show correctly.
