hidden glass break sensors

I have these as well. Other then the official glass break tester, anyone find another route for testing? Will just smashing an old drinking glass do it? I assume it is ready and waiting to work, but would like to know for sure.

I found a big, down in the belly, forcefull cough right into these things will trigger them. I have two and works every time (I'm not going to tell you how I found this out btw... ).

After reading that I had to try it. It worked on the first cough. Simple and effective!

Interested in the troubleshooting..........how would it be any different than mag. contacts, aside from the potential to change resistance over time (which ElkRP would show me)

There's a lot of splices in the manufacturing of the screens, no way around it. Generally, a good solder joint, shrink tube, and believe it or not, usually plastic roofing tar to help seal the splice in the tube, they're reasonably reliable. The only downsides are typically the field wiring within the material is 30 awg, so a small nick in the covering, over time, it'll rot out. If the screens are outside and the conductors are crushed when screening, over time the same result. It's a real art to manufacture a screen. I did it for about 3 years when I was getting into the industry, made 15K+ screens in that time.

Have you found any other false-alarm issues? To be honest, if I have my alarm armed and someone is that close to my window, I'm OK with an alert!

Do you have an ice-hockey rink for a livingroom? ^_^ I think that'd set off more alarms than the one on my M1!
