Idea for an autonomous alarm siren

It occurs to me that a thief could possibly find and smash your alarm panel silencing the alarm sirens. Sure the system would have already called the monitoring system but wouldn't it be better to use self contained sirens that have their own power supply so that they would continue to make noise? If you had two of them the thief could find and smash one and the other would still be blaring. I'm thinking that the sirens could be installed in a hard to reach location powered by a wall wart. It would be switched on and off by a relay that is controlled by a rule.

Does this already exist? It would certainly add a measure of security and that is what it's all about. Or do you think that it's just more trouble thanit's worth?

I've seen wireless alarm alert devices for the DIYer using ZWave or Zigbee these days.

You can DIY radio with a combo piezo / strobe today (even using batteries) as the draw is pretty low for these.

In the 1980's with a detached garage here installed an antique fire station bell on my garage that I could only access via a ladder.  It was loud and had it's own power supply.  I just really liked the way it looked.

I wonder how much time a thief wants to spend looking for your alarm panel while the sirens are blaring? My equipment room would take awhile to locate and even then it is not obvious what you would need to smash to stop the noise. I expect a thief would rather just grab what they can find on the ground floor and get out. Also Blue Iris is not anywhere near the alarm panel so if they want to destroy the video evidence as well then that is going to take even more time to find.
