Bruce does have a point. If HST would just answer some of the questions, or do a general post in the announcements thread it would ease a lot of the asking over and over again on some things. HST makes a great product, and yes it is just a small group of people. But they have never been forthcoming with any information on the board. (lately espeically) So, all that is left is for people to ask, and someone respond and speculate and it gets out of control.
And as for this "Security issue" and the HS update, It was made quite public about a month ago. HST did a patch and posted information on it in the announcement forum. The one thing they mentioned "The vulnerability is not due to a flaw in HomeSeer, but rather through a common (and incorrect) way that the security features within HomeSeer are used." that is half true. They did not mention that the other half of the problem that was fixed that was HS vulnerability. Yes, there were 2 completely different issues that were fixed with the latest release, though only one was mentioned.
I am not trying to bash HST here by any means, I honestly am not. I just think that letting people know whats going on now and then and answering some of these questions before they turn into rumors and aggrivation, would be a good idea for HST and their customers.
For instance, HS 2.0 was told to be expected soon after CES. Thats been around 3 months ago now. If you go to the HS forums, under "official Announcements" all that is there is advertising for stuff in the HS store. Not a single mention of HS 2.0's delays. Putting up just a simple post, saying it is taking longer, unforseen issues surfaced... something, that would help to stop all the "When is it comming out?" posts that are all over the board now.
