Haiku IP Intercom

Is there any plans or is it possible to integrate the intercom feature into your app as it is the only thing I am missing from not using the Omni touch screens and just wall mounting ipads ?

If not do you know a way it can be done on an ipad ?

We're looking at doing it via FaceTime. It should already be possible with FaceTime directly or using some third party apps. We're going to try to integrate FaceTime with Haiku.

There are already a few sip phone clients for iOS with background support. I have used iSip and 3cx phone and they seem standards compliant. I am pretty sure the HAI touch screen's intercom is just a sip client.

Facetime integration would be cool, but would only work with other Apple devices. Lupinglade could integrate a sip voice intercom with a c library like pjsip, I think this is what iSip uses, probably be a lot of work though.

This would be awesome. Then we would need a weatherized and burglar proof case with power for the iPod outside the front door. Is there one?

I briefly looked around and didn't find anything... but there's a million of them for iPads.

I wanted to do an intelligent doorbell with camera/sip that could integrate with my existing home PBX - seemed like an iPod touch could be perfect!
