ipad or 5.7e

I am building a new house and have just began the wiring process, and my HAI dealer would like to know what integration i would like to use, he recommends using a wall mounted ipad, but i have researched some and biggest complaint is the delay issues with opening it up and connecting, but it does look better than the 5.7e's do, but they are much faster and are always connected, along with being more customizeable. what do you guys recommend, i am integrating,security,lights,hvac,nuvo audio.

Get the IPads.
I have both (5.7e and IPads) and I prefer the IPad.
Use Haiku until the IPad Snaplink comes out and then make a choice.
CasaTunes works real good with the IPad if you are not using the HAI music sever.
The Ipad also looks great on the wall with the aquarium screen saver. Wife loves it.

It really depends on what you want. The 5.7e is going to be in a fixed location, and it is more customizable than the iPad. With iPad/Android you do have to "launch" the app, and you are going to lose out on some functionality because of limitations of the platform. (Intercom, Getting notified if you alarm goes off, etc).

I would recommend at least one 5.7/5.7e. Sole reason is that ipads move around, wireless networks go down, batteries die, etc. If your alarm goes off in the middle of the night, it's a lot easier to roll out of bed and look at that touchscreen mounted in the wall, than it is to search for where your kid's left the iPad.

Another suggestion is: Wiring is relatively cheap, and the 5.7e's use CAT5... have him run some extra drops, you can always go back and add more 5.7e's if you feel the need.
