Irda Hardware

I'm looking for a device that will connect via USB to a PC and can broadcast IrDA output on up to 8 ports. Preferably, these ports would be 3.5" jacks which I could plug an external ir blaster cable into.

I've seen a huge number of IR Tranceivers that support one port, but not any that support multiple ports. My plan is to control multiple devices using an RF remote. The PC will receive the RF signal and then needs to send IR signals to the potential devices, like cable boxes, dvd players, video switch, etc.

Welcome to CT, Jim.

All you need is the one output into an emitter block, which will re-transmit to your 8 single emitters (or 4 double emitters). Check out Xantech, they'll have what you need... Here's a link to their IR catalog or you can browse the full 2009 catalog for some ideas.

Also keep in mind that IRDA is not the same as regular IR, it's short range, mostly used to communicate between portable devices. I am only mentioning this in case you are searching for irda.
