Kwikset notifications

I'm looking into Z-wave capable deadbolts, and the Kwikset is in the lead due to its motorized deadbolt. I have a question I haven't been able to find an answer to in the installation manual or by searching here... and it is this:

The Kwikset deadbolt can be configured to send a notification when an entry code is used to lock or unlock the deadbolt. Can it do the same thing if a key is used? What about the Schlage unit, same question?

This came to mind yesterday when I found that someone had entered my condo with a key while I was away; luckily, it's a rental unit & I'll be out in a month.

Thanks...

I doubt it. While possible, the electronics are probably not monitoring the motor for manual movement. But can't you just use a door sensor to know when it's opened and if there is no notification from the kwikset then it was using a key?

It will send a notification of the bolt being extended/retracted so if you see an open/close without a code associated to it, you should be able to tell that it was the key or the thumb latch.

Excellent, thanks! Is that the same for the Schlage, I wonder...?
