Need help w/ Rosslare keypad connection

Hello,

I am installing a Rosslare Weigand keypad at my house. I've mostly figured out how to connect the Rosslare Weigand device to an Elk Products KP2. The power (+/-) is tapped for both devices. The green and white data lines are connected. The purple tamper wire is connected to my KP2 (input zone 193). What I haven't figure out is how to wire the Rosslare keypads "LED control" wire. I want the LED on the Rosslare keypad to illuminate when my door strike relay is activated. Suggestions?

Hi

If the Rosslare is the same as other Weigand readers then the LED should go green when you connect the brown wire to ground.

In order to have the LED go green when your strike is energised you will need to connect the brown wire to ground through a relay and switch the relay from output on the M1 - You can use the output on the KP2 to do this. If you are already using the output on the KP2 to switch your lock strike then you will need to use a DPDT relay like the Elk 924 so that you can switch strike power and ground for the LED.

Thank you for the reply. I can confirm that grounding the brown wire on the Rosslare keypad makes its LED burn green. I am not sure I will go to the trouble of installing a DPDT relay since I already have a SPDT relay for the door opener. At this point, getting the LED to burn green with door actuation doesn't seem worth the effort. At least I now know how to do it. Thanks again.
