I have a similar situation (not enough space in existing enclosure). What is the best way to add new enclosure? Can one add a flush-mount enclosure after the drywall is up? If not, then I guess adding a surface mount enclosure next to the existing flush-mount enclosure is the next best thing.
sure u can add a flush mount after. just have to make sure where/if there are any wires in the way or not. u will most likely have to remove the first one to pul out any wires from it to go into the new one.
I used to think it was that simple too, but in general, yes they are flush mountable after the fact. But there are other factors to consider before cutting holes. In my case I wanted to flushmount a pair of them in a closet I am going to put everything in. As luck would have it, the closet was built with studs 24" oc instead of 16", so unless I want to do some rigging, its not going to work. So check to make sure there are no obstructions and the studs are 16" before making any assumptions and cutting.
