New SageTV Extender "SageTV HD Theater "

Wow. I knew it wouldn't be long before they sold out, but I thought they would last a week or two.

I didn't need any this time, so it really didn't matter to me. But it would be nice to see Sage be able to order enough to keep them in stock. If they have to wait for another batch to be manufactured again, it is going to be a several month delay before they are in stock again.

I think this has to do with the device changes, since they often fix their mistakes for free they don't want too many in the wild for fear of a big bug.

In the orginal HD Extender the IR reception sucked in the first run, somehow this was not observed by their betas. Then they had to reissue a new faceplate for the thing (supplied for free), you can tell by the pics of the new unit they implemented a perminent fix.

grrr...just got an e-mail saying there was an issue with my credit card and they need more info...

They better have put 2 aside.....i'll be seriously PO'd if i don't get mine because of this...

Got mine today!!! Big plus, it included a HDMI cable!!! Big minus, there is a note in the box that says that I must upgrade to the latest "beta" version of Sage before using. I guess I'll get it going this weekend.

You shouldn't have to upgrade if you have an available client license.

The new beta auto recognizes these new extenders and as suck you need not enter a license key for them.

I recommend you take a look at GeexBox, which can turn any old, slow machine, without a hard drive, into a network media player. I used this for a while to access my video/dvd libraries and MCE recordings on a windows machine.

Thanks Dan. I even found that there is a port of GeeXbox for the Wii. Will need to wait until Christmas since the Wii is my wife's Santa gift. However, I'm not sure how mature is this port.

My original plan was using either the Windows or the Linux version of XBMC on a Mini-ITX with a mobile chipset and processor, but will investigate GeeXbox too.

The options are either going with an excellent, inexpensive, single purpose device like the Sage HD or assembling a PC (expensive, time consuming, multi-purpose). You know that my DNA will always gravitate to the second option. But his is another topic.

Anybody have a phone number for sage TV?

My order got screwed up (probably credit card company fault) and the phone number sage has in their docs and website is dead.

I hope they put my 2 extender aside during this mess...i don't want to miss the boat....

Anybody know how many they sold in that one day?
