Nuvo Music Port MPS4

I noticed today that the MPS4 config web page (music-port/config or ip/config or server name/config), Content page (where you input pandora/sirius/radiotime credentials) now has a 'Spotify (Beta)' credentialling input area.

Anyone know anything about this?

1. Has anyone tried using Autonomic sw for the client or sync programs that run on each networked PC?

2. Do people use a static IP for the MPS4? How about for contributing PCs?

I've gotten the Nuvo sync sw to work on 1 PC, but not another. Electron said maybe it's a firewall issue, will explore this week.

Does anyone know if the Mirage $20 app works with the MPS4 or the MPS4-E? I am using it with the original music port and a windows PC. I have consistently had problems with the music port and PC and think I want to upgrade to the MPS4. Just want to know if the Mirage iphone app i have will work or do i have to get the $99 nuvo app.

At present:
MPS4 is DHCP
2 contributing PC's, one is static IP, the other DHCP.

All seems to work fine.

Woot! Let's hear it for the imagers.

Not sure what my problem is with this one pc, running w7. I can get the sync sw to run on all other pc's, both w7 and xp. Static vs. non-static ip's doesn't seem to affect the sync sw. Turned off the firewall, still not working. Spent a good amount of time configuring network shares and HomeGroup.

Different issue - trying to use a laptop with XP to rip CDs directly to an external hard drive attached to the networked rack PC (w7); gosh, I hate HomeGroup. I'll spend another week on this before upgrading the laptop to w7. This is clearly a HomeGroup/share issue.

Looking forward to re-ripping the CD collection with a laptop, from the comfort of the family room sofa. FWIW, I will prob use WMA Lossless.

The workgroup/homegroup/mshome/share issue is solved. Can now rip from XP laptop directly to an external HD attached to the W7 rack PC. Shouldn't take more than 40 hours to re-rip the CD collection, sitting in front of the TV.

I wish Nuvo/Autonomic/Microsoft offered a way to manage multiple music file libraries. I guess I'll just keep separate folders on the HD, for the wife and kids.

It does not.

It seems to me that it very intentionally does not. When I load it, it sees the MPS4, but as soon as it realizes it's a NuVo box, it says it won't work with it, and suggests you 'Upgrade' for $99 to the NuVo app.

I ripped about 40 CDs, and have started enjoying my albums via the MPS4.

I had a problem with the audio last night - songs would play twice, overlapping, with a ~1 second delay, like a bad loud echo. Was late, didn't have time to play with it, will try tonight.

With lossless audio files, the 320GB will be a big issue. I will have to convert/duplicate the collection using lossy compression, if Nuvo/Autonomic doesn't come through with support for an attached external HD.

I have also had the occasional issue with this 'echo' while playing streamed internet music, but never this pronounced.

Couldn't find mention of this 'echo' issue at CT or Autonomic forums.

I wonder how often Mr. De Nigris or Mr. Maley frequent CT.

Sorry, I thought the post was again in reference to the 'Mirage' iPhone app (isn't my bitterness evident on this one?...)

Anyway, I'm talking about when I load or open the iphone app. It sees and looks like it briefly connects to my MPS4, then an alert pops up, says I need to upgrade and then it shows no servers available.

I think Autonomic would appreciate it if you removed that link. Bookmark it, don't abuse it or it will really disappear.

I noticed it, too, but the forum is still there. Although with the infrequent posting/replies there, that may be the reason they've removed the link. They *are* responsive to email, but don't seem to prioritize on the forum, which is a shame, since a well-managed forum can allow customers to solve problems amongst themselves, and also provide invaluable feedback...

(no free lunch of course, though!)
