Nuvo Music Port MPS4

I think the forum link removal is an effort to further reduce DIY inquiries into their Mirage Media Server hardware and software. It's strictly dealer-only.

Anyone have trouble with their MPS4?

I went to trim out my rack a couple weeks ago, now that I'm just about done retrofitting zones (11!). I neatly trimmed the keypad category cables all to the same length, but I had trouble adding the keypads back to the system. I lost MPS4 metadata at the keypads.

I tried everything to fix it, but no dice. Tech Support did not have a solution. I tried a single KP, run with a premade patch cable, to the EZport, replaced all Nuvo premade category cables, different KPs, reset the MPS4 (button on the front), innumerable hard and soft resets of the GC and MPS4, multiple Configurator tweeks, rain dance, etc.

I arranged to RMA the MPS4. TS and AO were very helpful, in this regard. No prob whatsoever.

And, paid ~$500 more dollars, and I'm getting the MPS4E. In 5 years, I'll definiately want a larger hard drive, or the option for external storage.

I hope the problem was the MPS4. If not, I think RMA of the GC is next.

BTW, Prozone has changed. Again. I had to contact TS for the Configurator SW. They sent me a link to the sw download, and did not offer access to the Prozone. Since I only needed to try new sw to see if it would fix my prob, I didn't push it. The MPS4/E is my only source.

Update - Thanks to a tip from jjautor, I realized my Prozone login is still valid. Must have mis-typed my pw or something.

Received the MPS4E yesterday. Took 30 mins to swap out in the rack, and configure. Another 15 mins to add my KPs, one at a time, and now the MPS4E is working perfectly. :)

On the IP config Content tab, there is now an option to add a network location, for NAS. There is an option for video output, for a single zone, for cover art. And there is an Amazon Cloud Drive option as well, on the Content tab.

I'm having a problem with my MPS4. All of the outputs simply report "Connecting to Server" to the keypads, but other than that appears to be functionally dead.

One the web interface, it's responsive enough that it loads the "Attempting to Connect" screen, but then simply reports, "Server Not Detected". Also, I CAN load the config screens, so this thing's not dead (just useless). Also, I can mount the server on my network, manage files, etc...

On the config screen, I did notice there was a firmware update, which I loaded. Appeared to load, but my problem is still not solved. Anyone have any ideas here?

NuVo isn't answering the phone (understandable, it's Sunday), but their support email just bounced back and the address appears dead. Great. (There was a baby shower at my house this weekend, and every time someone inquired about the keypads I had to explain it and then say, "... but it doesn't work". Good advertising for NuVo lol).

(PS. On the config screen I see there is now a Mac sync tool available. I will finally stop complaining about this now!).

Well... It works now.

I rebooted it several times, then decided that maybe "connecting to server" indicated that the GC couldn't connect to the MPS4, so I rebooted GC. Nothing. Gave the GC a FULL reset. Nothing. Then I just gave up.

Came back about an hour later and it worked. (Had been not working for about 3 days). I have no idea what happened.

So, I guess I'm happy now. Not only does it work, but it also seems to work better (I had trouble with shutting the zones down while running Sirius, and coming back later and simply NOT being able to start Sirius again... until I switched to a different source output. It's only been a few hours, but that problem seems fixed).

Mac Sync tool = awesome btw.

I've been having a similar issue with some internet radio stations, via intune/radiotime. Just like you wrote, if I switch to a difference source (e.g., C), and select the station, it works fine. But just after waking up a keypad, it fails to play again.

It's not a major issue for me, infrequent enough.

The issue happens, I believe, with specific internet radio stations.

Groove Salad is one, as mentioned earlier in this (or the Music Port) thread.

My MPS4 will occasionally (? once every 2 weeks) behave erratically or lockup. A reboot of the MPS4 always fixes it.

Actually, somewhat less frequently the entire GC system gets hinky and needs a reboot.

However, overall the GC system is the most popular thing I installed in our new house. Love the MPS4, too.
