Nuvo Music Port MPS4

I wonder if some premium options will come with Spotify, similar to Pandora.

Well, since Autonomic already supports it in Europe, and they've announced support for Spotify in the US (email message sent this week), one could reasonably predict it will show up "soon"...

I checked today for an updated Mirage version - nothing yet.

I entered my Spotify login information in the config and I get "The user is banned".

I wonder if this is because I currently only have the free membership? Or something to do with Spotify's newness in the U.S.?

I've read in several places that Spotify Premium is required for music servers, $10/mo.

Spotify lists Sonos on their website, Premium required.

This doesn't really belong here in the MPS4 thread, but I thought this was interesting.

New Nuvo wireless player. I'm guessing it's like Sonos.

NuVo’s new wireless solution is a masterpiece of versatility, performance, and affordability. The modular player approach can accommodate any homeowner’s preferences or budget with a-zone-at-a-time design and limitless content options through built-in streaming Internet Radio and network-stored music. Developed specifically for the custom installer, it delivers truly high-fidelity audio, while offering incredible connectivity and customization.

Yep, saw that too in the CEDIA / CEPro magazine links. Very much sounds like a 'ZonePlayer' competitor, and would certainly round out their product offerings nicely. I'll definitely report back what they show in their CEDIA booth...

Would have loved to meet up with you, Jeff, but I have a business meeting the same dates. Indianapolis is 4 Hours' drive from here, too. :(

Shake electron's hand while you're there. ;)

Anyone use a Nuvo iPod dock (NVRIPS), with the MPS4 on the same system?

How's the operation with a docked iPhone or iPod Touch? Is it only for digital music files, or can other music be played from the idevice?

A little more on topic, I bricked my MPS4E last month.

Tried to configure a static IP, and lost webpage access. 'Reset DHCP' .exe file from Nuvo TS, via USB, didn't work.

RMA through AO was very smooth, except for the box sitting on my front porch for 4 days (during Thanksgiving, on vacation). I wish AO would double box - but that's how they receive it from Nuvo. AO Says the component is already double boxed, as the music server is already boxed, within the outer box.

Took me 30 mins to set up the new one; would have been 10 minutes, but I couldn't remember my RadioTime acct info. ;)

They don't seem to interact at all. In my system they are separate sources, and they don't even know about each other.

I have been running a Nuvo MPS4 with the Grand Concerto for about 6 months, with no trouble, until I had to replace the hard drive from my laptop. Now, the sync tool will not function correctly, hanging immediately once the "calculating" phase is complete. I have reinstalled the sync tool and iTunes, rebooted all components, and still no progress.

I am wondering: is there a way to "wipe" the MP library and start anew? Could there be some old sync log files on my computer that are interfering with recognition of files on the new hard drive?

My current MPS version is 3.0.9420.0
OS: Windows Vista

Thanks for any help!

Kiddiedoc,

I too have occaisionally seen problems with Music Port Sync (the program that resides on PC's contributing files to the MPS4. But no problems in a while. It will inexplicably sometimes not be "monitoring", and will fail to sync. But a reboot seems to fix it. This is usually not a problem, however. I love the MPS4.

BUT, now I have what appears to be a big problem.

Everything has been working fine, but yesterday Pandora and InTune Radio stopped working.

I can select RADIO, then INTUNE, then LOCAL and see a list of local stations. When I select one, a portion of the radio station description comes up, but no sound. Sometimes a progress bar appears and starts counting up.

I can select RADIO, then PANDORA. All my stations are listed. Selecting one brings up the metadata for a song appropriate for that station, but no sound. No progress bar. Never says "buffering". After attempting Pandora or Intune, the server won't play anything at all, including regular MP3's. After a power cycle of the MPS4, however, I can play MP3's if I do that first (without trying radio).

A reboot of the Grand Concerto, MPS4, cable modem, router, and switch does not fix the problem. (Other minor problems with streaming have always been remedied with these maneuvers).

I plan to call Nuvo tech support next week. Neurorad, what do you think they are going to tell me? I believe the MPS4 should have a 3 year warranty, but I am not sure. Purchased in 6/2010 from Automated Outlet. Seems like it could be a software problem, but I can't find anything to modify. I wish I could just get the thing back to factory settings.

I don't know if a hard reboot - pull the power cord - does anything different that a power cycle, but it's worth a try, on the MPS4.

After you give TS a try, I don't think AO will give you any grief.

Make sure you set aside 2-3 hours for TS.

Is a FW update an option, from the MPS4 configuration browser?

It's irritating that there is no way to factory reset. Should be an option, with an ISO, remotely, but it's not.

Have power-cycle rebooted several time to no avail.

FIrmware is up to date.

I have been back and forth with TS several times now, both email and voice. I've sent log files, they asked if I had a modem/router combo (I do not), said they have heard of problems caused by these type boxes provided by ISP's.

Of note, my setup has been working fine since 6/2010.
