Hello all.
I have been lurking here for a while and I have sucessfully installed a GE NX8e system thanks to all the information I read here. In my system, I have a nx320e power supply, keyfobs, nx216e 16 zone expander, nx548e wireless card, and an nx540e operator module for some x10 home automation. I have a boat load of PIRs, Glassbreaks, 1 smoke, and door/window contacts.
The system has been programmed and is running very well with one exception..... I can not arm the system with a keyfob when a chime only zone is tripped. IE) if I walk out my front door, I can not arm the system with a keyfob until the PIR outside my door resets out of an alarm condition. More specific info below....
Outside my front door is a motion detector that has no security system function at all. Although it is wired into my NX8e, I have setup that zone to be a chime only zone (default zone 25). Its only purpose is to automatically turn on the x10 porch light when someone walks up to my front door when the motion detector on zone 13 is tripped (via the nx540e programming). Zone 13's type and charicteristics are as follows...
Programming is setup so that during the closed hours, anytime the PIR in zone 13 is tripped, the nx540e will turn on
Module #0 Location 158 is 14
Module #0 Location 159 is 248-45-0-0-0 (default) [Periodic test] [24hr, follower, local only, chime, bypassable]
Module #40 Location 62 is 42-13-10
Module #40 Location 63 is 134 for segment 1 and 1 for segment2
Module #40 Location 64 is 4-0-1-0
Module #40 Location 193 is 7-0
Module #40 Location 194 is 20-0
Module #40 Location 195 is 1234567
Module #40 Location 196 is 4 (corresponding to output 4, locations 61-64)
I've tried changing the zone characteristics at module #0 Location 159 segments 1 and 2, but that does not enable the zone when tripped to activate the x10 light on the front porch.
I have not tried this, but I am thinking that changing Module #40 location 62 to a 27 (chime trigger) might fix my problem. However, there will be times that I will not want the chime feature activated on my 1192e keypad.
Does anyone have any experience with this kind of application and if so, what do you recommend?
Thanks in advance and sorry so longwinded....
