Omni IIe "No Controller Data" After Battery Destruction

OK, so my system has been working fine for years.  One day I come home and all my interfaces are flashing "NO CONTROLLER DATA."
 
I check the console and I see that the back up battery is destroyed.  There's a bulge in it and it looks like it was about to explode (but didn't).
 
I've since unplugged the console and also hooked up a new ELK exact replacement battery - but the console still shows "NO CONTROLLER DATA."
 
Red LEDs on the console blink when plugged in.  But unresponsive.
 
Did I fry my console?  Someone mentioned the PTC was supposed to protected the board.  I looked at the PTC next to the battery in leads and it looks fine - a bit of discoloration on board where it connects?  See attached picture please.

It looks like the F1 PTC may have burned out.
The corner of it shows a black area and the PCB looks like it has smoke marks on it.
 
Is there any visable damage on the LM2673 regulator IC?

That black mark in the corner is just a shadow.  But there does look like smoke marks on the board where it connects.
 
Where's the LM2673 regulator IC?

Doesn't look damaged.  Are these things I can test with a multimeter?

As I am not sure what to check next.
I hope someone with more experience with that board may have added information.

If the red LED on top is flashing, and your console says "No Controller Data" this proves the power supply is working fine. The console wouldn't display anything if the power wasn't on.  Red and black wires should have 12v on them.
 
Are you 100% positive that YELLOW goes to terminal A and GREEN goes to terminal B?  If that is correct, the only remaining thing to check is activity on the data bus and that would take an oscilloscope.  I think data goes to the console on the Yellow and returns on the green.  If the signals are not there, this isn't something you could fix yourself anyway.
