OmniPro II: No Controller Data

I am having problems with my OmniPro II controllers which was working fine for about 3 months until 2 days ago.

The console (Lumina) only displays "NO CONTROLLER DATA". I was able to do self-test and the console itself has no issues.

I did research online as to what the problem could be (found 2 previous threads here on this forum) and the 2 possible scenarios were either our wiring was somehow wrong, or the controller is busted. The wiring is definitely correct. I triple checked.

At this point I am stumped. Any suggestion as to how I can pinpoint the problems will be greatly appreciated.

Try

1 - Power down panel and disconnect battery (all power to the panel)
2 - disconnecting all wires for all consoles on the panel (all four wires)
3 - connect one console with short wires to the panel. (all four wires)
Note that two wires carry the 12VDC and two wires are communications A and B.

If 1,2,3 above works then check one wire run to one console (4 wires to 4 wires) one by one for any shorts.

Do the above for all of your consoles.  It will be time consuming depending on how many consoles you have in place.

Then take disconnect each of the keypads and test each one with the four short wires.  If one is broken you will know.

I am assuming that your are writing about keyboard consoles.  Omnitouch 5.7 legacy consoles use same wires but draw more power.

Thanks for replying, Pete! I have tried every single one of your suggestions. But none of them made any difference. It didn't take too much time since I have only one console connected to the controller.  Any more ideas? Could the controller be broken?

I see a transformer and battery wires going outside the frame of the picture. I assume the transformer is 24 VAC. Always connect the transformer BEFORE the battery. The panel will not run on just battery alone. If its still not working, try changing the console to a different unit number.

At this point, I have tried everything I could find on the internet. I've even tried some Diode Testing ( ground--A;  ground--B ) as one technician suggested, he looked at the pictures and said the controller is probably gone. Here are the images:

How do I find with absolute certainty if my controller is broken?

Another user on the forum posted same message here and on the Worthington Forum HAI support section.  Looking through the forum this afternoon one user had a lightning strike take out his panel and it showed the same symptoms as yours.

Best recommendation I have for your panel is to send it to Leviton / HAI for repairs.

So I just started having this problem.  I am 99% sure this happened because my backup battery went bad.  The battery bulged out and almost exploded.

So I disconnected the battery and am waiting for a new back up battery...but without the battery - the system gives me a NO CONTROLLER DATA error...did I fry the console when the battery went bad?  It should still function without a backup battery right?

You would think there'd be some fuse or some sort of protection to keep it from destroying the rest of the board?

And you would be very correct. See next to where the battery connects there is this yellow square thing (at least its yellow on mine). This is called a Positive Temperature Coefficient Thermistors (PTC) and it does just what you describe. They are basically an auto resetting circuit breaker.

To check if a board is powered and running look near the top left. If you see a red LED blinking, its working.

Ok so the LEDs do blink so there is power. But it keeps saying no controller data.

Anyway I can fix or reset this?
