I really appreciate all the responses here. You all have great influence and I hope to get to the same level one day. That will take some time, however I do want to make one final comment. I have sold one switch to a customer that hopefully will add as they too live with it and learn other things to be controlled similarly. We price those to be a few hundred dollars which can be a challenge to upgrade their two dollar existing switch to a smart one but that's really all they need to get going. I retro-fit most everything though we are going to be leaning on some of the trade alliances we have to get into the construction phase though I agree their bottom line is always money and lighting control seperate from the security system is a tough sell.
The main point is let's not forget the middle class here. Even if it's just a few units it's something. The UPB system is perfect for an introductory to automation with much less investment compared to other systems.
I am serious, in this case size doesn't matter ( yea for me ), I am now aiming at specific lighting designs or scenes to increase exposure. I think a bullet point survey could be beneficial. Are any of you using marketting materials in this way?
A one sentenced question may encourage the conversation and some of the examples are in line with what we represent. Except for the really cool voice telling you the time and temp. Things like the panic for bedside, entertainment, go to sleep, arrival, late night break, early morning artificial sunrise, romance, dinning, annoying left on lights, emergency, vacations, and remote access have been discussed. Can you all think of something I might have left out?
Again thanks for your efforts in discussing for all of us to get better at this.
