SA UPB Switches question

Alrigh I've ordered few SA UPB switches from a provider. I got all my switches but when I opened the boxed I'm baffled.

I ordered US11-40-W and USR1-40-W.

The US11-40-W are fine. No question these.

That's where it get's interesting. My USR1-40-W have label on the boxes from a P-Touch listing USR1-40-W. This have been applied over the factory print (US11-40-W).

In the box I get a switch with the factory label on the back listing US1-40 (Exactly the same as the load carrying switches). There is a white single rocker face plate on the switch. I also have an extra single rocker white face plate in the box (2 face plate total).

When I look at the US11-40-W switches the switches have the exact same factory label with the single rocker white face plate.

Since both switches look exactly the same (unless there is a detail I'm missing). Are the Relay switches exactly the same as load carrying switches? Why would the relay switches be half the price of the load switches and have an extra face plate, be the same switch but cheaper?

Can I use US11-40 switches as relay switches?

I'm just about to order a bunch of the "Relay" switches if they are just the same but half price.

Please enlighten me.

PS: I've emailed the provider bu have no answer yet.

There is a US11-40 dimmer switch and US1-40 dimmer base and a USR1-40A remote.
To add to the confusion there is also a USR-40A remote base.
The 1140, as you noted, are single rocker dimmers.
The US140 generally do not come with a faceplate, but are similar to the 1140s with the rockers in function.

The USR switches are not relay switches, they are "Remote" switches.
They have none of the electronics inside for communicating over the UPB network nor any of the load carrying/dimming components.
The USR switches can't be used alone.

A US1-40 is not the same as a US11-40. Are both labels the same?
The easiest way to tell what you have, if you suspect the labelling may be wrong, is by the wiring coming out the back.
The USR only has 3 wires, black, white and white/brown striped.
The US11-40, US1-40 have 4 wires with the addition of a solid brown load wire.

I suspect they relabelled some extra boxes they had, maybe at the dealer not the factory.
You may actually have received a deal in getting US140 dimmers instead of USR remotes.

Pics would help.

Pics or links...

The remote slave switches have a plastic body instead of metal and have different wiring... They're very different.

The only difference between the 140 and 1140 is the inclusion of the white rocker (with the 140 you buy whatever color faceplate you need separately.

And Simply Automated does not make any relay switches. To use a Simply Automated switch with a non-dimmable load you have to disable dimming and set it to Snap!. This may not have quite the same load handling capacity but it eliminates the loud relay "click".

See the link in my signature for detailed information on all the Simply Automated switches.

Thanks for the answers.. I just got an email for the vendor today. Here's the explanation I got.

"We have a new shipping clerk who misunderstood instructions to ship the USR-40 slave switches along with ZS11W paddles to make it a USR-1-40-W slave with paddle which is what you ordered."

The clerk took US11-40 instead of USR-40.

This is all clear now. I'm getting great service from the vendor and I'll make sure we both get this resolved in timely matter.
