Siren for M1G

Hi,
I have an existing ITI 13-046 siren (I dont think it has a built-in siren driver, not positive though). Will the M1G drive this or must it be a self contained siren? The instructions are a little unclear to me, but seem to indicate it is self-contained only.

Thanks,
Joe

Well this is exactly what you need to find out. The M1 Output 2 will support self-contained sirens, as well as speakers. But not at the same time. You choose the function with Global 26, either siren output (for speakers) or voltage output (12v for sirens, strobes, etc.).

Thanks. I just found the setting in ELKRP last night. The M1 supports BOTH self-contained sirens and speakers. Mine is definitely a siren and not a speaker.

If that's the case, just make sure it's not drawing more than 1 amp... as that's all that output supports.

I'm a strong believer though in just getting the 1RT speaker - that way the Elk can drive it any way it wants - and when the sirens go off, they're totally in sync indoors and out. With how cheap they are...
