Suggestions for In Ceiling speakers

These will be used for the whole house audio everywhere except the deck/Family room where I will be using outdoor/better speakers. Looking for a nice price/performance point.

Lots of people have bought from HTD.com or Monoprice.com or even PartsExpress.com and been pretty happy. Buy a single pair to test out and if you like the performance, you can order more.

Bought a single pair of monoprice to test - they sounded good. Bought a bunch more and have them in every room including Garage, Basement, 3 bathrooms etc.

If you're installing these speakers yourself, the local dealer will usually give you a big discount from MSRP, if you don't cost him a lot of time. Expect to pay more if you want him to do more than place the order.

Some manufacturers have dealer quotas, too, but I don't know which ones.

I like Proficient for basic background audio, 'contractor grade' speakers. Monitor Audio appeals to me for higher grade applications, for in-ceilings, but I haven't heard them.

not cheap, but i am a big fan of Triad in-ceiling speakers, many in-ceiling options available, esp. if you are looking for higher-end products. they compare well to traditional in-room speakers at similar price points, IMHO.

I've installed proficient in three houses. They are great speakers. IMHO their outdoor speakers are excellent for the price.

I have the same units and all I can say is its perfect! The outdoor speakers were competitively price and its specifications can beat other overpriced speakers.

i have lots of the mono price speakers, they sound pretty good, and fantastic for the price. the outdoor speakers aren't as good but they are good enough for party music so i havent replaced them

I've used mostly Proficient Speakers for my setup. The are priced OK, but they will also offer regular sales (although the specific speaker model on sale is different, so you might have to wait for your desired model to go back on sale) that make them very attractive IMHO. I've also used another speaker brand of similar cost although I cannot remember the name off hand. I have not tried the Mono-price speakers so I cannot comment on them, but I know Monoprice generally sells good quality stuff for less than you would think it should cost. ;)

I'm a huge fan of Emotiva stuff. Own a number of their amps/speakers/in ceiling speakers and everything they make is bulletproof for a great price. That's what happens when you sell Internet direct without the retail chain markup.

Here are the in ceiling speakers I have: Emotiva UAC-8.2

I used Proficient in my home as well. If I could get comparable pricing on the JBLs I probably would have went with them instead - I've been using their car audio gear for about 6 years.
