generous? certainly!Skibum said:I think E can back me up on this... I've been more that generous giving HS 2 a fair shake....
2 months is just too long to have to wait for a stable release.
Ski if you honestly think that HS 2.0 is a true release version then you definitely need to head either back to HS 1.x or elsewhere. You know HST's history of releases and why you moved is beyond me.

I'm not stating that I would run my company this way but this is the way it's being done. I do enjoy promoting HS but I've also been around long enough to know that Rich and team will eventually get it right. I setup HS 2.0 to test it. I also am slowly moving event by event, device by device over and seeing how it goes.
Dan to compare HST to Microsoft is, I'm sure flattering to them, just not a reality.

Rupp, I suspect it is because you don't eat your own dog food. Meaning that until you give up your HS1.7 crutch and commit to HS2 24/7, you are seen as a hypocrite and a blind cheerleader. You are defending a product you don't really use! Yet you continue to claim everything is rosy for you. Yes, you are a user, but too many of your posts give the impression that you are speaking for HST. If HST would admit that HS2 was still in a shakedown phase and extend the upgrade discount until it was stable, they would regain some credibility.Rupp said:Come on Dan and Ski why are you guys piling on me. See, I knew Rupp was a smart man. So how can you defend to the death a company that is not run up to your own standards? With leadership the way it is there, I would run and not look back, REGARDLESS of how good or bad the product may be.I'm not stating that I would run my company this way but this is the way it's being done.
If you read my posts on the HS BB you shouldn't find any post where I recommend moving to HS 2.0 and if you do find a mention, it was with the caveat of rebuilding the system from scratch.
Hi Tom, Welcome to CocoonTech! As far as the Elk system. I am very interested in it and will probably look at buying it soon. Can someone tell me if there is some type of SDK for it to get information out of the serial port. Can I get monitoring status of the digital inputs/doorbell monitor etc. Also, where is the best place to buy it. What package is the most economical. (the one with the keypad and battery included?)
I've just been with HS from the beginning that's all. If I didn't support companies that I didn't like the way they were managed, I wouldn't buy or support anything. I'll back outta here as I'm getting out numbered. If you need any help though just holler.Steve said:See, I knew Rupp was a smart man. That is a good indication of your justifiable lack of faith in the overall process & system of development & support.Rupp said:I do not use 3rd party plugins unless absolutely necessary.
Well, it is hard to find specific examples (and I am not trying to make this a personal flame of any sort), but I disagree. You may not have INTENDED to give that impression, but you sure did. Unfortunately too many good posts were censored and the whole HS2 beta section now appears to be deleted. If you read my posts on the HS BB you shouldn't find any post where I recommend moving to HS 2.0
I worked for a tiny company for 12 years. The rule is, you don't bite off more than you can chew. Or you don't let outsiders run your company for you. Lots of cliches, but the bottom line is "they made their bed, they have to lie in it". And you have to admit your mistakes publicly, not hide them. And you have to respect your customers, especially when you are a small company where every customer is very valuable.I agree they should be defending themselves but your asking a lot of a small 3-4 man team. They should have never caved in to all the cries to release 2.0. Once they did it's a decision they will have to work through. Small companies with a big product have these kinds of problems. Let's see how they get through it.
