Agreed. Typing the IP alone will default to http:// (port 80)
 
Having said that, some devices are setup to auto direct to an https:// address if the device uses it, however some devices [purposely] do not auto direct.
 
I haven't looked through the webpages and videos that have been posted, but I assume that they instruct you to enter the specified port after the address (if required)...  e.g. https://192.168.1.100:3049
