Water Shutoff Valve

I'm not looking to throw a wrench into the works, but I reviewed the data sheet you posted, Dan. It appears the 1" and 1.25" reduced bore valves have the same internal diameter of the 3/4" full bore valve, 20mm.

That's a good catch, the specs clearly state 3/4" bore even for the larger sizes. I sent the company a quick question whether they have a 1" ball, but the company is closed for a holiday through the 7th, so we'll have to wait until then for an answer.

All:

Hi, Dan,

Thanks for your mail. I had a good holiday.
For KLD20S Series, that is full bore 1/2”, full bore 3/4”, reduced bore 1” stainless steel, these have food grade seal material.
For full bore 1” and 1-1/4”, that will be KLD100 Series, now there is no food grade seal. The valve price is several times expensive than KLD20S. For your reference, KLD100 B3 stainless steel full bore 2-way valve is Fob Tianjin USD 103.70 (1” NPT), USD 106.20(1-1/4” BSP threading, no NPT).
We attach some technical data. Do you order 1” reduced or full bore?
For 1-1/4” reduced bore (KLD20), there is no NPT stainless steel valve, no food standard.
Feel free to contact us if there is any question.
Best regards! Have a nice day.

So, looks like if you go over 3/4", you are reduced bore, or give up the "food grade" valve. Can someone please take a look and figure this out for certain?

Looks like you're correct in your evaluation, Dan. Here's what it comes down to:

1. I think most of the people, including me, that went for the 1.25" reduced-bore didn't need the 1.25" but wanted a 1" ball. Since this isn't the case with the original valves, that doesn't work. The 1" and 1.25" reduced-bore valves both have .75" balls. Plus, the 1.25" is brass and isn't food-grade.

2. The new series of valves, the KLD100, have full-bore 1" and 1.25" balls and are not food grade. Plus, they are way more expensive than the KLD20, but still much less than Elk or KZValve.

Given the importance of this item, it makes sense for me to spend the money on the right valve. I can get the Elk-WSV for just over $300, and would order in a snap, except that it's not designed for outdoors and that's where I need to install. The KZValve valves are rated for outdoors and are waterproof (NEMA 6P) and include a manual shutoff. I can get the KZValve for under $300. Unlike the WaterCop and Elk valves, the KZValve needs power applied to keep the valve closed. For me, that's not a big deal as I would have it on a UPS and I have an automatic whole-home generator.

I appreciate all the work you've done, Dan, and am sorry I threw a wrench in all this. For those that can use .75" bore, the KLD20 valves are a great deal. I just wish I could use it.

Thanks,
Kevin

Anyone want to get in to order a few of these? I've been in communication with the manufacturer.

KLD20S B3 12Vdc 3/4” full bore 2-way stainless steel 304 valve, NPT threading, unit price is Fob Tianjin USD 39.50.
110Vac is more expensive, more than USD10.
Shipping cost by DHL for one valve is about USD30.

I've just asked if I can buy the motor by itself, as well as any discounts to getting 2-3 at the same time (any shipping break).

Although, at this price, even WITH that shipping it is still significantly cheaper than say a FortrezZ or a Elk valve.

Is this the same valve? http://www.dhgate.co...b56d47553a.html
DHGate has them for $41.50 with free shipping to US with minimum order of 5.

Sorry I've not been on here for a while...

So, from what I am seeing, anyone that NEEDED the 1.25" is out?

Are we pretty much saying, only 1" and below?

politics123, do you still want the 1/2"? Or are you dropping out completely?

--Dan

I was deciding on whether to drop down to the 3/4" valve and ran across this valve actuator that is USA-built (yeah) and allows you to connect your own specific valve. This might fit the bill for those that want/need more than a 3/4" valve at a price less than ELK or Water Cop. There doesn't seem to be a 12VDC version though.

Yes, I'm out, Dan. Sorry. Thanks for your work on this, though.

What valve would you guys recommend with that? Would appear to be a tad overkill for household water valve, no?

Yep, I'm out. Thank you for the effort!

I'm still in for the 1/2" version, and out for the 1.25".
