Who has Nuvo Music Port?

I'm curious as to where did everyone buy their Nuvo system.

I know someone recently mentioned Tony at Setnet - searched and couldn't find the post.

PM me, plz, if you don't want to post online. I don't need to know prices, just the vendors.
Hello all, new member here. I found this thread when searching for Pandora and Nuvo.

I have the Essentia E6G and Music Port purchased through Home Controls. I'm running Music Port on an Acer Aspire One and interfacing with my automation controller.

When Pandora is running on the ACS software, do the Song and Artist show on the keypads and will it run Pandora from a playlist on the keypads? It sounds like the ACS software is trial only. Have they indicated if they authorize their software for a small fee?

Sorry about the lame post. Found the answers in a previous post on page 7. Lesson learned.

The good news is that it took my license key and Pandora passord. It's working well. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Overall i like the solution..but think the GUI can use some more work and royalj and I have been trying to figure out how to get some control over the MP without the keypads...

Maybe NuvoPete or Autonomic can chime in... can an external automation program (we're primarilly interested in CQC here) send commands to the MP/MCS to go the next song, pause, etc. It's obviously possible since they have their flash GUI do it..but is there a documented protocol so we can have somebody write a CQC driver for it? At the moment i have good control through CQC over my T2FXG tuner (very good control actually) and the E6G itself, but none over the MP sources.
As a workaround, I have been able to use my external automation controller to control MP by sending commands to the NuVo that simulate keypad button presses (Section 9.26 of the NuVo Serial Control Protocol). For example, when MP is the active source, I can pause MP playback when my phone goes off hook. I haven't tried previous song or next song yet. This will pause or unpause MP:

*ZxBUTTON2,1,0,0,0
*ZxBUTTON2,2,0,0,0

But only if the zone "x" is active, so I keep track of active zones and the active source.

This is good stuff...I'll have to see if i can make that work tonight...strange that it is per zone and not by soure..but if it's simulating a keypad press i guess by zone is appropriate.

Yes, I wish it was for the source, but apparently there is not a way to create a macro for the MP... maybe because it's a NuVo-Net source? I don't know since this is the only NuVo-Net source that I have so far. I have a macro command that will pause my Sony 300 CD Player by source. Maybe it is a bug for MP.

I forgot to mention that the regular simulated keypress (section 9.13 through 9.15) don't work. This is a confirmed bug. But these commands are still by zone.

At least the workaround works for now.

What automation program are you using? I use CQC with the TCP/IP modified Grand Concerto Driver and I can't seem to find a how to issue to issue that command. The driver info shows you can trap user keypad presses...i havent figured out how to do that one yet either.

I see a source message option, but not a zone type message like you show above. Hopefully beelzerob can clarify. Essentially you are virtually pushing the pause button on a certain zone keypad right?

I'm tired and frustrated several of my 'toys' are not behaving the way they should...bad HA day i guess..Autonomics software is somehow no longer playing nice with my Audio card driver.

bought my NuVo system and the Music Port at Automated Outlet

Part of it being because they're very active in cocootech and they're almost always in the chat room to answer any questions i had. That and martin shipped the whole thing for $8 and change.

My system sends the RS232 ASCII text commands from a serial port directly to the NuVo serial port. Although I had to insert a Serial Buffer from B&B Electronics between the two since they have different baud rates. I got the commands from the NuVo Serial Protocol Manual. So it's pretty straight forward for me. My system is a Stargate... still powerful, but now sort of a legacy product.

You are right... the commands I listed are for a virtual press, then release of the Play/Pause button on the keypad. If CQC isn't setup for this, a Global Cache unit for TCP/IP to Serial might work.

Bad HA day... I feel your pain. When I installed the MCS, something got mucked up and I had to Restore Windows. Luckily I had a Restore Point from earlier in the day. It's running well now (with Pandora). I wonder how much of my life has been spent waiting on reboots.

I'm trying to decide if I should buy a tuner, with the GC.

If the MP allows internet radio, with the 'upgrade' (presumably Q4), the tuner will be redundant. The radio local radio stations I listen to stream on the 'net.

Who think internet radio will become available, with the MP? The Autonomic website details 'streaming XM' for the ACS software.

I emailed Nuvo today, no response yet. I may have to wait for CEDIA to find out.

Wife gave me the nod today, to buy the GC (and MP). B)

I think I can install 6 keypads (phase I) without cutting drywall - phase II (expander) will definitely need some drywall repair and painting.

Don't make the mistake I did and buy (or not buy) on future "features." The internet radio functionality was suppose to be available in July...not some time at the "end of the year." I would get the tuner if you really want to listen to your local fm station.

I'm in the exact same decision making situation right now. I know I'm buying the MP, but the wife wants to listen to the local FM station also. I'd also like to listen to Sirius. I've looked at the tuners and it seems they don't have just an AM/FM tuner, you have to go with a combo tuner that also provide XM or Sirius. However, I've been looking around to try and find a way to stream the Sirius from the web instead of having to have a tuner do it. So far I haven't found the answer...

Similarity is creepy.

I want Sirius, too. I though uSirius would be an option, for Sirius streaming, but I looked online yesterday and found that was shut down in March. My car came with Sirius, and I've been researching home options.

I'm pretty sure Nuvo offers a tuner without satellite. From the Nuvo site:
Choose from one of three tuner options:>AM/FM/Weatherband on both sides. AM/FM/Weatherband on one side and XM satellite radio on the other. XM satellite radio on both sides.

If they stopped selling them, look for one used.

Or, just use a non-Nuvo source - any cheap AVR should pipe FM radio into the multichannel amp. If she doesn't need metadata (only listens to a couple stations), then no problem. You wouldn't need the Nuvo 'Learning Station' kit for that (I don't think).

Same here... When all my other HA crap fails due to server issues or Windows OS or my being stupid at least the E6G and my tuners will always keep working.

I have FM/AM/WX & XM tuner (T2-FXG)
