Will Brinks or ADT Install in New Construction?

I am putting my elk in right now - and though I know how to run all the wires, etc - I just hate doing it (I'm tired of attic work) - so I called around all the security companies for custom work...

Of the 30 or so I called, 3 were wiling to do the work - for the $55-$75/hour. Some you couldn't get past the receptionists if you didn't want their brand of panels, and others didn't want the work if they didn't get the monitoring contract. All in all, I chose the guy who thought the elk system was "bada$$" and wanted a chance to play with one... We'll see how Saturday goes...

Point is, $3K is robbery... especially to not include windows. From the sounds of things, wiring and contacts for my place will be about $600

I got the electrician to do it for around $500 and he seems pretty capable. I need to tell him how to wire for extra chime speakers though. I need the doors to chime when opened and I need to hear it throughout the house, not just near the keypads. Does the door chime play through the main speaker output?

Depends. Voice annunciation of "Front door open" will play through the speakers with the ElkM1, but I'm not sure about a simple beep.

on mine that I wired up this morning, the chime is through the keypad - the voice is through the speakers. There's a tone or two on the panel that you might be able to use in place of the voice announcement that'll come through the speakers...
