wireless door sensor, linux support

I'm looking for a wireless door sensors or kits that have Linux support. The idea is to have a transmitter which is connected to computer via USB.
I know there are many home security kits which can call to a specified number. But I'm looking one with Linux support, so I can control what happens when a sensor is triggered.
Any ideas? It would be ideal if I could buy it inside EU. Thanks.

I don't know of any. But you could probably build your own using some alarm contacts and Zigbee Pro parts from Digi.

Or, if you're feeling really adventurous, you could buy the Elk M1 wireless expansion unit, get an RS-485 interface for your linux box, and attempt to write a program that sent and received the correct commands to the wireless unit. Then you could use ANY GE Crystal CADDX wireless sensor units.

If you do this, let me know, even though I have the Elk M1 Gold, I could certainly find a use for this sort of thing.

Okay, thanks for the information. I will look into this with a friend who has more hardware experience. I'll let you know if we go the hard way. :)

The RFXCOM receiver should support the wireless X10 DS10A door/window sensors, and is compatible with Linux. They also have a European version (it's actually a European product).

RFXCOM looks exactly what I'm looking for! The receiver has support for all kinds of protocols. Thank you very much for the tip. I've been looking for a while.

Those things are sweet. Looks like you need to buy two receivers to cover everything because of the difference in frequencies between countries. But if you're only using US X10 equipment, then you just need the 310Mhz box.

Domotiga looks awesome. Doesn't look like it support my Elk M1G or my Brultech out of the box though. It supports Asterisk, but I just switched to Freeswitch, doh.

I was just going to install it, but realized that it's a GTK app. All of my linux boxes are headless. I'll have to whack up a VM in VirtualBox to test this out, and have no time right now.

This also looks interesting, but I can't find a whole lot of info on it:

I'm probably going to use the Heyu software, it's a console app. I want to start camera and send SMS once a sensor is triggered.
Now I just have difficulties to get needed hardware. Most shops have crazy shipping costs to Finland where I live.
