Wiring your new house 101

What about terminating it, did you run into any problems there? Which RJ45 jacks/tools did you buy?
I haven't even thought about terminating it yet...still trying to get the wiring 100% complete before the drywallers start. Right now, I have about 50 coils of wire just hanging in the basement.

I did do some practice terminations a few months ago with no issues. I forget the tool I bought, but I'm using the Quickport jacks on the outlets and a patch panel at the wiring hub.

For the actual RJ45 ends, I'm using the "EZ" style connectors that you slide the wire all the way through so you can see the ends along with this tool: EZ-RJ45 Crimp Tool I'm not sure if the EZ connectors are actually certified for CAT 6, but I'll probably use them anyway.

I think this one will have to be filed under the YMMV catagory. I HATE cat-6.

Also, you will need to get the cat-6 version of the EZ connectors (and of course cat-6 versions of all the quickport stuff).

Electron, myself and others have had a hard time tracking this thread down. Perhaps it would be better suited in the "How-To's & Guides" forum?

Bump.

Same comment here. I went looking for it a few days ago and couldn't find it. I finally ended up pulling the link off of E's tag.
