Mike.
Yes. I mentioned this to you via PM a few weeks ago. Running with no issues.

Wouldn't all devices on the same RS485 bus be affected by a power drop?
How is additional power 'added' to the garage DBH? Looking at the P212s instructions (for the first time)...jumper in place on the P212S?
Can the P212S be moved out to the garage, and leave the KP/RS485 devices powered by the main board, or is that too much voltage drop (200') for the single needed KP there? Ah, nevermind, saw you also have XIN and XOVR out there too.
Can the P212S be used to power the RS485 bus as well as other devices simultaneously (motions, etc)? How are these other devices getting power from the P212S?
Ditto....I definitely think it's worth a try. Wish I'd thought of it.RAL said:I can't imagine how the battery could be the cause of this, especially since an 18Ah battery is within Elk's specs.
Elk's suggestion about erasing the rules is reasonable. I could believe that maybe there is a bug in the firmware that causes it to crash and somehow your rules just manage to trip over the bug.
Is it kosher to run the 2 power sources in parallel like that, to the DBH?mikefamig said:
Look at the dbh install manual and you will see a + and - post along side the data a and data b connectors. This is where you connect power to supply the dbh. It does not matter where the power comes from as long as it is within voltage specs and supplies enough power for the devices that you conect to the dbh.
I have "data a" and "data b" and a common (-) connected between the m1 and the dbh in the garage. Then I ran 12vdc + and - from the altronix to the + and - posts of the dbh. I could have used power from the M1 or any other 12 volt power source but I chose the altronix.
Mike.
No you should never run two power supplies in parallel, they will drive each other and chances are that the one with more power will damage the other. The two sources are only connected at the common lead, not the +.Neurorad said:Is it kosher to run the 2 power sources in parallel like that, to the DBH?
I don't know what you mean by "dedicated rs-485 use"Neurorad said:For posterity's sake, when you used the P212s, did you install the jumper on it for dedicated RS485 use (not the terminal jumper)?
YesNeurorad said:Did you enroll it and un-enroll it like a KP?
Neurorad said:And, can you use it for both the data bus power and for the single outputs, simultaneously? Instructions are vague, but I think they say either or.
